Custom apple cabin specification: what can change and what must stay controlled

Customization creates value when every option is connected to the room, destination and transport plan. Without a freeze process, it creates scope gaps instead.

Customize from the operating brief

A custom apple cabin should begin with the guest or commercial use, not a collection of finish references. Record occupancy, bed arrangement, bathroom and kitchen requirement, accessible clearances, storage, luggage, housekeeping, equipment and maintenance access. Then select D1, D2, F2 or another footprint that can support the brief and reach the site. Changing a cabinet colour is a finish option; moving a bathroom changes service routes, structure, weight, support coordination and inspection. Classify every request by the interfaces it affects before accepting it as a simple customization.

Control the exterior and glazing package

Exterior customization can include colour, cladding expression, entrance position, privacy screening, signage zones, terrace interfaces and the extent of glazing. Confirm glass build-up, frame system, opening type, safety treatment, solar and thermal requirements, water management, cleaning access and replacement strategy for the destination. Large curved or panoramic glazing is part of the apple cabin identity, but it should not be specified independently of climate, orientation and room privacy. The approved elevation and schedule must identify what is standard, selected and excluded.

Treat the interior as coordinated room data

Wall and ceiling finishes, flooring, cabinetry, sanitary fixtures, lighting, curtains and furniture need one room-finish and equipment schedule. Record manufacturer or performance basis where substitutions would matter, along with colour, quantity and installation responsibility. Check clearances around doors, beds, wardrobes and wet areas on the drawing rather than in a rendering. For resort batches, limit the number of room variants and use a sample or approval room to close the common standard. A visually small change repeated across forty cabins becomes a large procurement and replacement-parts decision.

Localize electrical, plumbing and HVAC deliberately

Destination voltage, frequency, plug and socket type, protective devices, cable and equipment requirements, connected load and distribution boundary must be agreed with the local project team. Do the same for water pressure assumptions, inlet, waste outlet, hot water, ventilation, condensate and HVAC design conditions. IEC 60364 provides an international framework for low-voltage installations, including prefabricated and transportable buildings, but the project must still identify the applicable destination rules and approvals. Do not accept a generic statement that services are international standard.

Keep customization inside the transport envelope

A wider body, raised feature, added terrace component or changed split line can alter shipment classification and lifting. D1 and D2 already travel out of gauge; F2 depends on each module remaining within the planned container envelope. Recheck packed dimensions, weight, centre of gravity, lifting points, external protection and number of transport units after design changes. Separate loose items and site-installed features where that protects the finished module or avoids unnecessary out-of-gauge volume. The loading drawing should be a design output, not a logistics afterthought.

Freeze the design through named approvals

Use a controlled sequence: operating brief, selected base model, concept room plan, technical interface review, finish and equipment schedule, coordinated drawing set, shipping review, sample approvals and production release. Mark who approves each stage and what changes after approval will do to price and programme. The final order record should include drawings, specifications, schedules, quotation, exclusions and document register under matching revision. That lets a custom apple cabin remain a repeatable manufactured product instead of becoming a series of verbal exceptions.

Common questions

Can an apple cabin be customized?

Yes. Room plan, finishes, glazing balance, services, furniture and selected exterior elements can be reviewed. Every change is subject to the model structure, transport envelope, destination requirements and approved quotation.

Can the bathroom and kitchen move in a custom apple cabin?

They can be reviewed, but moving wet areas changes plumbing routes, ventilation, weight, structure, furniture clearances and site connection positions. It must be resolved on coordinated drawings rather than treated as a finish option.

Can apple cabins use local electrical standards?

The destination voltage, frequency, sockets, protective devices, connected loads and required approvals should be specified before production. A local professional confirms the applicable rules and the factory package is coordinated to that agreed basis.

Does customization change apple cabin shipping cost?

It can. Changes to width, height, weight, lifting points, split lines or loose external features may change the transport method, permits and protection. Reconfirm the loading drawing after the design is frozen.

When is a custom apple cabin design frozen?

Freeze occurs only after the room plan, interfaces, finishes, equipment, services, transport drawing, scope and exclusions share an approved revision. Later changes should have a recorded price and programme effect before acceptance.
